Originally started in the late 1920s, Victoria Box & Paper was primarily a manufacturer of chipboard folding cake and gift boxes on Vancouver Island. Diversification into wholesale distribution of paper and packaging products, in addition to the manufacture of boxes, continued throughout the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
In 1969, Victoria Box & Paper was sold by its local owners to the “Price Company”, later to be called “Price Wilson”, then “Price Daxion”. Shortly following the sale it was decided for economic reasons to sell off the box manufacturing equipment and concentrate solely on wholesale paper and packaging distribution on Vancouver Island.
In 1992 Alco Standard Corporation of Valley Forge Pennsylvania purchased Price Daxion, Smith Paper and Crown Paper. The three companies were merged to become Unisource Canada.
In 1993 Victoria Box & Paper Ltd was re-incorporated. In its first 6 years the company experienced the necessary sales growth to allow it to become a member of Balpex, the Canadian Association of Independent Paper and Packaging Distributors. As a shareholder of this buying group the company is assured of competitive pricing, allowing us to compete favorably with our competition regardless of size or origin.
Today Victoria Box & Paper has become a leading distributor of paper, packaging and janitorial products on Vancouver Island.
